This August Bank Holiday weekend event is the biggest event on the horizon, serving up an annual portion of Fish and Ships to amuse and entertain. Tall Ships, sea shanty singers, comedy walkabouts, an International market selling tasty treats, and live music – this weekend is not to be missed!

Highlights

British Fish Craft Championships on the Sunday as the country’s top fishmongers try to out-fillet each other

Welsh National Oyster Opening Championships on the Monday – open to all –

Breitling Wing Walkers flying high over Cardiff Bay on Sunday at 12pm and Monday at 4.30pm.

The Bristol and Cleavdon Gig Pilot Rowing Boats will race out into the Bay. See these 17th Century recues vessels as they take to the water.

Fish ‘N’ Ships
Tall Ships – 11am – 17pm

The Ruth and the Matthew will moor at the Inner Harbour. Hop aboard for £1 to see how we used to sail. See Harbour Patrol vessels and enjoy the Vagrants Crew as they sway to sounds of the sea!

In the Fish Tent

The British Fish Craft Championships return for the third year, as top fishmongers compete in a series of precision skills tests on the Sunday and a series of talks and demonstrations on Saturday and Monday.

‘Find a Fish Dish’ – the winner revealed!
The Cardiff Harbour Festival has teamed up with Jamie’s Italian in the city centre to launch a competition to ‘Find a Fish Dish’ that will grace their specials menu – with the winning dish cooked for visitors at the festival in the Fish Tent.

Learn to fish in Cardiff Bay
Each day the team from Cardiff Bay Water Activity Centre will show you how to fish, from the Graving Docks by St David’s Hotel and Spa. For just £1 per person, register at the CHA tent at the Inner Harbour

The Last Resort 

Our alternate end of pier attraction, with children’s entertainment is back again this year. With beach huts, a sand pit, Skillywidden sea show story telling and the Best Dressed Pirate and Sea Creature Competition at 3.30pm on Monday afternoon.

Each day the Institution of Civil Engineers will encourage children to get hands on, building a replica of the Severn Bridge outside Wales Millennium Centre.
